Unveiling Of My Twin's Blog

Friday, December 28, 2007

HA! I finally finish designing Ammy's blog yesterday. *3 cheers for me* Chiong everything yesterday after she text me about her staying at some camp. Perfect time to put everything together to await her return tonight. Ammy (who has a real twin of her own) is my no blood relation twin, something which we've declared to be so in Akiyame where we first met and found to our immense disbelief the affinity we share for the same bishies =P

Anyway, she is like my very bestest best best friend but since Nasha is currently holding that title I shall give Ammy the title of bestest best best twin (lol). She, Sha and my sis and my 2 dear cousins are like one of the rare few wonderful super close friends I have in my life. So since Ammy asked me to design her blog like since dinosaur years ago, I agreed.

Did the layout light years ago but got stuck on the banner as usual so turned to eiChi-sama for help in designing the banner. This is what the art goddess came up with 3 days ago:

Gorgeous ne?

And so totally cannot fit into the current layout I designed (lol) so I had to scraped it all and start all over. Anyway, designed the entire layout in one night and coded everything into Blogger the next day. The final layout:

Watermarked in case someone get some funny ideas....

So what do you think? Is it nice? I would like constructive criticisms =) She wanted red backgrounds and butterflies. Btw, that is the background only. Was too lazy to print screen the final product after I was done plus my sis was calling me to watch Hana Yori Dango. Omg, I LOVE THE TEA GUY!!!! He is so HOT!!!! What's his name liao? Nishikido? Wait, that's Ryo's surname......Nishikado then? Aha! I think that is the one. Our favorite F4 member. No, not that sissy Taiwan band. I'm talking about the J-drama here. So suave and hot *starry starry eyes*

Ahem. Where was I?

Of ALL colors Ammy you had to choose RED. The hardest color to design a blog with, seeing that the slightest wrong shade of red could result in total blindness. It took me an entire morning to change the entire layout as I kept switching between shades after shades of colors and font sizes for each individual headings and stuff trying to match it to the background. I should stop being so perfectionist. You know you are when you find yourself deciding between shades that are like only 7% different from each other.

Changed your cbox too which explains why I hounded you for your password yesterday. Sorry. Basically changed everything (as you wished) to give you that 'pimp my ride' feeling *winks* Or should it be 'pimy my blog' ?

Hope you like it =)

I remember you saying you wanted to chia me sushi? Forget the sushi. I want tons and tons of baby octopuses XP I demand you go out to the Japanese Sea (is there such sea? you know, like South China Sea....) and fish from there hehe.

Ok just kidding. By the way, I am awfully sorry for accidentally deleting your anime list and I swear upon my semi-topless Tegoshi poster that it was NOT out of jealousy cause your list was longer than mine lol.

And in case anyone of you is wondering, I won't be taking any requests for custom-made layouts. At least not at the moment as I'm busy with preparations for the move. Plus I only do layouts for the new blogger (which requires your user and pass) as I have no idea how the old blogger work. Too lazy to learn plus it's so hard for users to insert stuff in the future.

yay i'm super close to hana!*very very smug*

i seriously cannot thank you enough for my blog layout and as promised i shall chia you sushi. just pick the time and i'll be there. so sorry that you had to re do the entire thing. i forgot that you were making it in gold and white when eichi asked me what colour do i want it to be. but hey, look at the bright side, now you can use it for yourself. see i so smart.

The Gold and White one? I overwrite it already. Anyway, I switched to Red already by that time, just a different layout from what I had in the beginning.

Plus it's ok. I'm used to scraping things at last minute and start all over being the fickle minded person I am lol. After all, it's ALWAYS better in the end by doing so instead of stubbornly clinging on to something that won't work no matter how hard you work on it.

Glad you like it =D

I know abt that problem but I ave no idea how to fix it. I search the net and everyone just suggest using sizes that are standard which is 1024 or 800. I chose 1024 as majority of people is using that. Btw, what resolution do u use?

Nowadays most comps use 1024x768 though so normally it isn't a problem to them.

my blog resolution is fixed to 1024. bt i usually use comp wif 1600x1200. dat y i can c d diff....

urs prob is dat ur blog content is not having fixed width, it change according to user's comp resolution. so wen ppl view it wif high reso, ppl can c mo words in a line, bt background img dong fixed lo....

===================================
#outer-wrapper {
margin:0;
padding:10px;
text-align:left;
font: normal normal 100% Georgia, Serif;
}

#main-wrapper {
margin-left: 1%;
width: 63%;
float: left;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
}

html > body #main-wrapper {
margin-left: 4%;
}

#sidebar-wrapper {
margin-left: 1%;
margin-top: 1.5%;
width: 20%;
float: left;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
}

html > body #sidebar-wrapper {
margin-left: 8%;
}

i take a look at ur css code, n find out u use pecentage setting 4 width of sidebar n main wrapper, while ppl usually set it to fixed px (ect. 960px) to solve d prob.

anyway, lyk u say, mos comp use reso of 1024, it rili not a big dil u fix it o not... :-)

Try edit your template code lo:
(For sure, backup your own layout before trying, as I can't guarantee anything)

1. Find this in Dashboard>Layout>Edit HTML, this are parts we going to edit:
===================================================
/* Outer-Wrapper
----------------------------------------------- */
#outer-wrapper {
margin:0;
padding:10px;
text-align:left;
font: normal normal 100% Georgia, Serif;
}

#main-wrapper {
margin-left: 1%;
width: 63%;
float: left;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
}

html > body #main-wrapper {
margin-left: 4%;
}

#sidebar-wrapper {
margin-left: 1%;
margin-top: 1.5%;
width: 20%;
float: left;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
}

html > body #sidebar-wrapper {
margin-left: 8%;
}
===============================================
2. Add the following line

width: XXXpx;

(where XXX is numberic width of your template, in pixel)

to "outer-wrapper", it becomes

#outer-wrapper {
width: XXXpx;
margin:0;
padding:10px;
text-align:left;
font: normal normal 100% Georgia, Serif;
}

3. Change this

width: 63%; to width: XXXpx;
in main-wrapper, it becomes

#main-wrapper {
margin-left: 1%;
width: XXXpx;
float: left;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
}
4. then edit the sidebar-wrapper:

#sidebar-wrapper {
margin-left: 1%;
margin-top: 1.5%;
width: 20%;
float: left;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
}

to

margin-left: 1%;
margin-top: 1.5%;
width: XXXpx;
float: left;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
}

5. Preview it and see whether it works or not, if not, you may need to consider delete this

html > body #main-wrapper {
margin-left: 4%;
}

and

html > body #sidebar-wrapper {
margin-left: 8%;
}

****
Thats all, hope you have fun... =)
